Lowery, preservationist with a camera and an airplane
Ron Lowery is a gravity-defying, professional photographer
and pilot who has produced award-winning photographs marketed
around the world.
In 2003, using a twin engine plane that he and his
son built, Lowery flew 14,000 miles to retrace and photograph
the Lewis and Clark trail. He and co-author Mary Walker, co-authored
a book and DVD about this adventure, Chasing Lewis & Clark
Across America: A 21st Century Aviation Adventure.
For the past 15 years, Ron has traveled extensively
with his plane, virtually living in the sky to capture the exact
moment and the lighting he desires for each photograph.
The photographic images from Ron Lowery’s creative
mind have been used by corporations globally. His story of retracing
Lewis and Clark has been the subject of several articles including
the Business & Aviation Journals, Seattle Post Intelligencer,
and St. Louis Post Dispatch.
He was profiled in the book Right Brain, Left
Brain Photography: The Art and Technique of 70 Modern Masters
by Kathryn Marx and featured in the June 2005 issue of EAA Sport
Aviation magazine. His unusual flying lifestyle was profiled
in the April 2007 issue of Southern Living magazine.
He and his wife Sue, a graphic and web designer, have
traveled extensively. Their home base is Chattanooga, TN.

civic organzations in cities across America. The river-protecting
organization, American Rivers, has worked with him to bring his
program to audiences across the country and done joint promotions
